Powder days at Mt. Hood, Oregon

A perfect three days at Mt. Hood – endless fresh tracks of fluffy powder at Timberline, Ski Bowl, and Mt. Hood Meadows. A special dinner at Timberline Lodge personally prepared with Oregon wine pairings by executive chef Jason Stoller-Smith with the photo editor of Wine Spectator Magazine and her friends from New York. Cozy cabin surrounded by snowy woods & river with fireplace, hot tub, and more wine. I should enjoy these pleasures in my own backyard more often.

Heather Canyon bowls, nothing compares on a crisp sunny day with fresh powder . . if your legs can keep up!

A bit slow to capture from my iphone . . . but I wasn't stopping longer in these conditions!

Great shots I was there in Oct. But did not look like that. Beautiful

Thanks Steve – sometimes we have early snowstorms in Oct, but late winter & spring is usually the best. Fall colors are gorgeous along the historic Columbia River Gorge highway, and spring cherry blossoms peak in late April to May. Wine country is ideal in the summer, where I spend most of my time June – Sept. I feel fortunate to live in such a beautiful place, the more I travel the more I appreciate my backyard.

looks magical. I have skiied the oregon areas near grants pass and the early snows seem the best. later in the season it seemed to be avalanche ridden but maybe that’s different up north were you are. Looks like a great skii. It’s always nice this time of year because the air isn’t so biting cold. Thanks for sharing. rozi.
