Bhutan – the The Last Shangri La, the land of the Thunder Dragon, and a culture that celebrates ‘Gross National Happiness’ over GNP. It’s an idyllic Himalayan kingdom sandwiched between the world superpowers of China and India. The government strictly controls tourism and is one of the last Himalayan kingdoms to resist rampant modernization. Until 1974 there was no currency, all transactions were completed in trade. There’s few places in the world remaining where a visitor can glimpse such a strong cultural heritage still thriving.

Newport, Oregon for VIA Magazine
It was hard to believe this was Oregon’s winter with sunny, warm temps in the mid 60’s. I’d forgotten how charming this coastal town and surrounding area is, and was delighted to see how many local high quality seafood restaurants were thriving like Local Ocean with fresh locally sourced seafood caught daily.
2014 Year review, Top photos slideshow
2014 was an exceptional year with travels overseas leading photography workshops and editorial / commercial assignments & in Burma, Laos, Costa Rica, Maui, Okanagan, British Columbia & Iceland.
In addition, my first documentary film, THE NOBLE SPIRIT was completed and begun the film festival circuit. My fourth wine book, SPECTACULAR WINERIES OF OREGON was published. I also had the pleasure of woking with the best creative team I’ve experienced for a series of videos and photos for the Washington Wine Commission (stay tuned for release in 2015).
THANK YOU for sharing the adventures with me!
